One walker. One fox. One pigeon. Two penguins. A Lion vs a Giraffe.

A few more miles left as part of the  Dementia UK ‘60 miles in June’ challenge which I am completing for the Dementia-HelpX team.

The recent walk has taken me from Marchmont, across Newington, through Grange onto the Blackford Pond which is part of the Hermitage of Braid & Blackford Hill Local Nature Reserve.

Then onto the Morningside.

There I met a fox on the way, which casually strolled on a sidewalk of a busy road. It stopped, picked up a wooden stick, turned left into someone's front garden and disappeared within the housing estate. It was an interesting experience. I didn't expect to see a fox so close in the city. I think it might have made its way from the Hermitage of Braid. Same as me.

I stopped for a short break at the Black Sheep Coffee in Bruntsfield. I had to try their strawberry matcha.

I am a fan of matcha and taste-testing which cafe's make it best. Not many places offer it as part of their menu.

I ended my walk not far from my old flat and got to see the lovely penguin fence which I used to admire when I lived in the area, and at the end of it all I was greeted by a beautiful pigeon.

As I was walking, I was listening to the Lion Mentality talk by Team Fearless.

It somehow reminded me about the Giraffe.

There is a talk that I discovered as part of the coaching training a few years ago - a TED talk by Louise Evans about 5 Chairs which is based on clinical psychologist Dr. Marshall B. Rosenberg's theory on non-violent communication.

The lion mentality is often used in motivation videos, however, I haven't found a lot of information about the Giraffe Mentality, apart from a couple of social media posts.

I am curious about practicing the Giraffe mentality. It interests me, especially after watching a National Geographic's video on how giraffe's strategic thinking outsmarts the lions in the wildlife.

Stay Tall.

Focus.

Remain Grounded.

Rise Above the Noise.

Embrace the Giraffe Mentality!
