Walk for a Cure – Edinburgh

Hello All,

As some of you know, one of my favourite movies is The Notebook.

When Allie was older, she was suffering from dementia. Her husband Noah was reading a book to her at the care home. The book was their story. He was trying to help her to remember her life, and their love story.

In late 2023, I came across a book (in the local charity shop) called “Somebody I used to know” by Wendy Mitchell. Wendy was sharing her story of dementia.

Since reading the book, the topic of dementia has been close to my heart. I was only 38 at the time when I found her book. I realised that one day it could also be my story. Because anyone can potentially develop dementia. At the moment - there is no cure.

Wendy was diagnosed with dementia at the age of 58 and has been an advocate for living positively with dementia through her blog “Which me am I today”, and through her books until her death at the age of 68 on February 22, 2024.

I’m taking part in Walk For A Cure because I want to raise awareness, help to find a cure, and end the devastation of dementia.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity, dedicated to finding a cure.

Research is our only chance of stopping dementia in its tracks and offering hope to the many families affected.

Your donation will fuel cutting-edge research that could uncover new life-changing treatments, bringing us closer to a cure.

If you are in Edinburgh , feel free to join my Team for this walk on the 20th July 2025.

Team name: Dementia-CureX.

Thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

Natalie
